The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) is a world-class organization founded by a group of concerned responsible people, led by HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali , aims to protect Aqaba’s marine life from further degradation by promoting sustainable management of natural marine resources, raising public awareness, encouraging community participation, and conducting environmental monitoring.

In August 1995, JREDS registered under the Ministry of Interior as the first Jordanian nonprofit, non-governmental organization dedicated to protect the marine ecosystem in Jordan.
Over the last decade, JREDS, with the support of its 250 members, a staff of 14 people, three international and hundreds of local volunteers in Amman and in Aqaba, has developed and expanded its three programs areas, under which 16 projects and initiatives are currently operating.
